You have probably seen Hancock's work around town including locations at: the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Dunn and Brown Contemporary - previous exhibits - DMA, or even the Modern Museum of Art.
Hancock's dream-like x psychedelic master-pieces will be sure to take you for a ride into the unknown, as this exhibit will inhabit both gallery spaces within Dunn and Brown Contemporary.
The exhibit will be running through October 23, 2010 at Dunn and Brown Contemporary.

N.R.G. Exhibit @ HCG Gallery | 9.18.2010
Artists: Sergio Garcia
HCG Gallery is host to a new exhibit dubbed N.R.G. - Nelson | Ross | Garcia - which features bodies of work by Dallas' most followed x cultural artists Mark Nelson, Richard Ross x Sergio Garcia. The three artists have independently established their own following, as well as a respectable rep. as being top new-age artists in the DFW area.
The N.R.G. Exhibit allows for the eye of the behold to view, and gauge the diversity of each artists works as individuals, which will include some dope canvas, sculpture, collage x photo pieces by the trio, as well as photography Andrew Williams.
The opening reception for N.R.G. is September, 18 2010 from 7pm-9pm, so come out and meet the visionaire's, and support local art.

Kaws: "Passing Through" Exhibit
One of our favorite artists KAWS is preparing for his upcoming exhibit "Passing Through" in Hong Kong, which features his signature character on a massive scale. I'm sure there will be more models of the artists iconic characters in the larger then life-size. More info on the exhibit soon.

Dos Equis x Kaws
For all the Dos lover's out there, you probably have heard the buzz about the design of both Dos Equis amber and lager bottle by NY-based artist Kaws; the limited edition beer bottles are finally finished , and hold Kaws' signature "x-eyes," along with a dope all-over print. The bottle is set for a September 2010 release in Mexico.

Sam Reveles "Juarez Paintings" Exhibition:
Sam Reveles - Mandala Painting 2009, 2010 | 78x88Once you walk into the Sam Reveles "Juarez Paintings" exhibit at Dunn and Brown you are gasped by the extremely bold, chaotic, and peaceful oil x acrylic paintings and gouaches on paper - especially by the larger wall pieces. Reveles' "Juarez Paintings" is an exhibit inspired by the war and violence being dispensed upon the city of Juarez, Mexico - a neighboring city from Reveles' hometown of El Paso, Texas. Reveles expresses his emotions using the Mandala technique, which usually expresses peace, but with Reveles chaotic techniques used within his work you can see the frustration that may be implied due to Juarez, Mexico turning into one of the top murder capitals in the nation, which is due in large part by drug trafficking.

Robyn O'Neil - Come All Things Quite 2009 | 60x60
This exhibit was definitely interesting, while talking with a staff member of Dunn and Brown Contemporary, I got the sense that Robyn O'Neil's "Come, all that is quite" exhibit expresses either man becoming more in-tune with nature - taking it back to the Romanticism and the Frontier Myth days - or man viewing nature and the world without boundaries. The mechanical pencil drawings definitely leave room for ones imagination to wander x wonder.

"While O’Neil’s previous body of work narrated epic scenes of men struggling against Nature and the coming Apocalypse, she has now created drawings depicting a world after the world has won. The sublime power of Nature has dominated and her distinctive figures - men in identical track suits and Nike running shoes - have disappeared. The depictions now replace the previous landscapes, expansive mountains and ominous, stormy skies with images of a world disjointed and turned upside down, with seemingly no gravity and often lacking a horizon line. For example, the piece for which this show was titled, Come, all that is quiet, depicts only the back of a man’s head and a small looming cloud above him. The head floats in space as the figure gazes out over an empty world, perhaps representing a memory or reflection of what was once there." - Dunn and Brown Contemporary

Dallas x Homegrown Music & Arts Fest
Downtown Dallas is hosting the annual HomeGrown event this Sat. May 22 from 11 am-10 pm, which showcases some of the best local musicians and artists/art galleries in the DFW. With 14 bands ranging from Indie, Electro-Pop, Texas Rock, Alternative, Country, Folk and a dose of Hip-Hop on two stages and 20+ local artists/galleries blessing the Main Street Garden Park the event will be more then enough for you and yours to relish in. HomeGrown Fest. only cost $15 - free for kiddies 10 and under - and most of the proceeds from the event will go towards Way Into Music, which is an organization that provides education/instruction/foundation to youths wanting to learn how to play instruments, along with donations to other middle and elementary after school music programs. This will definitely be a dope event to check out and enjoy some sunrays. Be sure to peep local artists: Dem Southernfolkz (hip-hop/soul/progressive); Air Review (Indie); ISHI (Electro-Pop/Indie); They Were Stars (Indie); and This Will Destroy You (experimental/indie/instrumental.)

Art Conspiracy 2010 x Dallas
The Art-Con is gearing up for its 2010 showing of local artists x musicians to support, well...other local artists and musicians. This non-profit event allows artists to create an original piece of work on an 18x18 panel the day before the show and auction them off on show day at a min. $20 while local musicians hit the stage and provide the sounds. After all is said and done, all proceeds will be donated to local Dallas charities selected by the Art-Con committee. The Art-Con committee has decided to extend the deadline for artists x musicians to May 28, 2010, so if you want to hop on the Art-Con crew and shine your talents for the 2010 event, you best get on it and email: application@artconspiracy.org
This is definitely a dope event were artists (you), musicians (you), and members of our community (you) can get together and enjoy life while giving back to the D.F.Dub.

HCG Gallery x Fancy Footwork Exhibit
HCG will be displaying work from artists: Karen Garret, Kevin McCartney, Alejandro Diaz, Sergio Garcia; and - one my favorite artists - street artists Carlos Donjuan. The "Fancy Footwork" exhibit manifests art that poses an authentic view on everything from the waist down - legs, shoes, feet, socks, etc.. The exhibit is exciting and fresh as it mixes a variety of styles together; your visual senses will definitely be pleased by this exhibit.
"Fancy Footwork" encourages visitors to participate in its shoe drive and bring shoes to provide for children of the Caribbean who were affected by the devastating earth quake.
Exhibit will be open through May 22, 2010.

Jeff Elrod x Dunn & Brown Contemporary
The Dunn & Brown Contemporary art gallery has been hosting Irving native and UNT graduate Jeff Elrod's work since late-March, and if you haven't gotten a chance to check it out then you might want to go ahead and hit Uptown to get a looksy. The artwork by Jeff Elrod found in this exhibition provides visual mastery in the form of abstract and chaotic digital lines made from Elrod's computer. After doing somewhat of a scribbling technique for his pieces with a mouse, Elrod layers bold colors and uses tape to outline the improvisational lines for his pieces to "pop." The as it may seem "accidental" art is then transformed into a digital/visual orgasm. The Jeff Elrod exhibit is running through May 1, 2010.

Photographer Stewart Cohen's new manifesto "Identity" features 50 portraits of interesting people ranging from Campbell Bosworth, Eryhad Badu, Philip Glass and Johnny Lee Hooker. In each photograph, Cohen ask's the individual "What makes you unique?", which allows for the viewer to delve into the characters personality, and take it for what it's really worth.

Via illRoots - "Exit Through the Gift Shop, the first film by renowned graffiti artist Banksy, became the hottest ticket at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival where it made its world debut. Banksy is a graffiti artist with a global reputation whose work can be seen on walls from post—hurricane New Orleans to the separation barrier on the Palestinian West Bank. Fiercely guarding his anonymity to avoid prosecution, Banksy has so far resisted all attempts to be captured on film. Exit Through the Gift Shop tells the incredible true story of how an eccentric French shop keeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner with spectacular results. The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Invader and many of the worlds most infamous graffiti artists at work, on walls and in interview. As Banksy describes it, Its basically the story of how one man set out to film the un—filmable. And failed."
Spike Jonze x "I'm Here"
Spike Jonze - writer and director of "Where The Wild Things Are" - created the short film "I'm Here", which depicts robots living in a human world looking for love, friendship, adventure and a universal human compassion and acceptance. Dope, check the short film here:Hidden Treasures x PDNB
Photographs Do Not Bend has opened a new exhibit, which features various artists with a broad range of styles from documentary to conceptual. "Hidden Treasures" also features artists like Neal Slavin and photographs from his "Britons" series, which depicts group identity and photographs all taken by a large polaroid; also color photos by conceptual artists Sandy Skoglund.
The exhibit will be open @ PNDB from February 20 - May 1, 2010.
