Brother Ali & Evidence @ The Granada
Thursday, October 27 @ 7pm
No strangers to the hip-hop world, the heavy-hitters known as Brother Ali and Evidence (member of Dilated Peoples) will be at the Granada tonight doin’ their thing along with Toki Wright and DJ BK-One on their Fresh Air Tour. This show will definitely be a refreshing dose of hip-hop, which will include some raw and soulful beats produced by Ant (Atmosphere) from Brother Ali’s “The Undisputed Truth”(2007) album; and the already proven rapper Evidence will provide a health dose of lyrics to keep that head nodding. more here

Shine Exhibit @ Photographs Do Not Bend
The Shine exhibit at Photographs Do Not Bend (PDNB) offers a unique and interesting look at the art of a shoe shiners hustle. Shine, the first of PDNB’s fall exhibition’s features black and white vintage photos (taken mostly in NYC) of shoe shiners and shoe shine boxes that illustrate young, aggressive salesmen on their journey to success.
“Many stories of successful entrepreneurs started at a young age with the “start-up” shoe shine business. This narrative of a young man’s first plunge into commerce offers a nostalgic look into our own youthful dreams of making our own money.” – PDNB Gallery

Dirty Money: Angels
top with B.I.G. verse and a nice hook; Diddy might be back! Yes I said it,
he hasn't been going as hard since his "No Way Out"-"The Saga Continues" .
Although he is livin by that autotune in this song, ish might be a classic.

Red Bull Sound Clash: The Cannabinoids vs. Shiny Toy Guns
Red Bull keeps it live by bringing you the Red Bull Sound Clash! An unparalleled live musical conversation between two bands with diverse sounds, styles and creativity; and has been dubbed the ultimate music battle. The Sound Clash is exactly that, two bands going head to head in attempts to win over the crowds love. Picnic and the rest of The Cannabinoids crew featuring the lovely miss Erykah Badu (Texas native) vs. Shiny Toy Guns from Oklahoma. These bands are on the opposite ends of the genre spectrum (indie rock & hip-hop), but when it comes down to it it’s all about that feeling a live performance gives you; and regardless of genres these bands mesh well together. Centre @ Mockingbird Station
Hit up Centre this afternoon, left with some goodies and of course they were keepin' it real. Copped the NS's, and Centre's new line of wallets by J.Fold caught my eye. Nice, slim perforated wallet with red lining. They've got a good selection of J.Folds in running from around $60-$80 mostly 100% top grain leather, think they have some more dropping in a couple weeks for around $35. I dunno, I was feelin' anything and everything red/black today.

Blueprint Exhibit @ MAC
The McKinney Avenue Contemporary will be hosting the exhibit Blueprint, which is a group featuring artists Edward Setina, Brian Fridge, Amy Revier, Paul Slocum and curator James Cope. This group presents works that encompass elements of Sir John Herschel’s (creator of the blueprint) thoughts and ideas and presents them in a site-specific environment.
James Cope has given these four national and international upcoming artists the opportunity to express themselves freely while sticking to the “blueprint” which allows these individual talents to be highlighted in an interesting way.
